Nissha FIS Inc. (hereinafter “Nissha FIS”), a Nissha company, has obtained “UL60335-2-40 Ed.4 ANNEX LL,” the U.S. safety standard for detection systems of flammable refrigerants, for its developed refrigerant gas sensor module. The UL certification is given to products meeting standards for safety and performance. This time, Nissha FIS obtained it from Underwriters Laboratories LLC, recognized as one of the most rigorous UL certification institutions.

Refrigerants are substances to absorb and release heat, used in air conditioners and refrigerators. Some refrigerants are flammable, making safety devices extremely important. Consequently, air conditioners and refrigerators are increasingly being equipped with gas sensors to detect refrigerant leaks.

In this market in the U.S., the UL certification is mandatory for sale of refrigerant leak detection sensors. We aim to expand business with this certification in the U.S., the largest market for commercial air conditioners.
